Born and bred in one of flat track’s hotbeds in Flint, Michigan, “Flyin” Bryan Smith was hooked on the sport early. He started racing BMX at the age of six but quickly moved into the ice racing and flat track ranks and never looked back. After a very successful amateur career and numerous amateur national championships, he moved up into the AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship level in 2001. Smith quickly gained recognition, earning rookie of the year honors his freshman season. Since then, Smith has established himself in the sport with 30 grand national wins, 21 of which were on the Mile tracks, putting him fifth on the all-time Mile win list topped by fellow Michigan native, Scott Parker. Smith also made history as the first gold medal winner at the debut X Games flat track in 2015. After much success, Smith reached the pinnacle of American Flat Track and earned his first Grand National Championship in 2016.

In 2017, Smith embarked on a new venture with longtime tuner/team owner Ricky Howerton with Indian Motorcycle. The “Mile Master” scored four wins, the most of anyone not named Jared Mees, and ended the year second to his rival. Smith heads into 2018 on the No. 4 Indian Motorcycle Racing backed by Allstate Scout FTR750 and is motivated more than ever to take that number-one-plate back.
